Physical Education
Year 10
The Physical Education programme in Year 10 includes a variety of sports and activities. These activities include invasion sports, Fitness and Sport Education.
The programme is designed to allow students to further develop skills they already possess and provide opportunities to experience new activities. Students will continue developing ways of applying tactics and strategies to a game, including the use of space in attack and defence. By playing a variety of team sports, students will focus on how to work effectively as a team. They will also have opportunities to develop leadership and are encouraged to display a high level of sportsmanship to their peers.
Year 10 students will also participate in all Inter-house Carnivals: Athletics, Swimming, Cross Country and Surfing. High achievers in these competitions will be selected to represent our college at ACC and Champion Schools level. In the lead up to these competitions, the Physical Education Department provides training sessions which are open to all students. All Inter-house events (Athletics, Swimming, Cross Country, Surfing) contribute towards a Champion Inter-house Sporting award.
Prendiville enters Senior (Year 10-12) teams in Summer and Winter Coastal Associated Schools (CAS) sporting competitions in Terms 1 and 2 including sports such as Touch, Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Netball. Teams that win the CAS competition may progress into the Champion Schools Sports competition.
Year 10 is the final year of compulsory Physical Education. A number of General, VET and ATAR curriculum opportunities extend beyond year 10 (see Year 11 & 12 curriculum outlines).
