Dance

Year 10

The Year 10 Dance course builds on the skills and technique taught in Year 9 Dance and offers a springboard for preparing the students for ATAR or General Dance in Year 11. The course explores a variety of Dance style including Contemporary, Lyrical, Theatrical Jazz and Improvisation. Students will develop their technique and performance skills within these styles. Students will also develop their analytical writing skills in Dance through viewing professional dance company works, as well as developing their understanding of the biomechanics of Dance and safe dance practices.

Throughout the course, students are also given several opportunities to choreograph and create their own Dance works with intentions, increasing their ability to work collaboratively. Students are also given the opportunity to be taught by visiting choreographers through internal workshops. They will have an opportunity to perform some of this work for friends and family in the annual Prendiville Dance showcase in Term 3.
