Music Performance & Technology
Year 10
The Music Performance and Technology course serves as an excellent introduction to the music industry. Students develop performance and band skills, while gaining experience in studio recording, editing and music technology in a hands-on and practical environment.
The PTech course makes prime use of our industry-standard recording studio, 300-seat theatre, music technology lab and purpose-built control room, all fitted with a complete package of industry-standard recording and sound equipment and Logic software.
PTech is designed to gives students a strong basis for the Certificate III in Year 11 and 12, while also giving students enough theory skills should they decide to pursue Year 11 General Music.
Whilst this is predominantly a practical class, written components will be required. These will be completed in full and to a high standard in order to meet the requirements of the Western Australian Curriculum.
Prerequisite: The study of Year 9 Music Performance and Technology is an advantage but not essential. Some previous instrumental, vocal or music technology experience is required.
Pathway: This course leads to Year 11 Certificate III Music Industry (Part One) or Year 11 General Music.
