Humanities

During Year 9 students undertake a variety of disciplines and assessment tasks to fully develop their skills and capabilities in four distinctive areas.

Humanities

Year 9

In Year 9 Humanities, students study Civics and Citizenship, focusing on the role of political parties, elections, and Australia’s justice system. In Economics and Business, they explore Australia’s role in the global economy, trade interdependence, and the impact of financial decisions on consumers and businesses.

Geography introduces students to biomes, food security, and the ways human activity influences environments. In History, students investigate key events in the modern world, including the Industrial Revolution and World War I, examining their causes, impacts, and significance.

This program continues to build knowledge and develop essential skills. Students enhance their research abilities by gathering and evaluating information from various sources, improve their analytical skills by interpreting evidence and drawing conclusions, and refine their communication by presenting their findings in different formats.

The course also fosters critical thinking, encouraging students to question assumptions and consider multiple perspectives.
