Drama

Year 9

Students continue to develop acting skills and performance techniques that were introduced in Year 8 Drama. Students will develop their own characters in performance, rehearse and perform short plays and monologues and explore various production roles such as lighting, costume, sound, sets and props. They are also given the opportunity to participate in the development of a scripted scene or play whilst learning about rehearsal technique and developing this to performance level. Students will learn key terms and concepts relating to stagecraft and technical elements of theatre. Students will also participate in a class production which is performed to an audience towards the end of the school year in our state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre.

Course requirements: Students are required to have a pair of theatre blacks for this subject (black pants or shorts and a black t-shirt).

Prerequisite: The study of Year 8 Drama is an advantage but not essential.

Pathway: This course leads to Year 10 Drama.
