Prendiville Specialised Dance

Prendiville Specialised Dance

Year 8

The Year 8 Specialised Dance course is for those students who are wanting to continue Dance as a subject in middle/upper school, and/or have a strong interest in or passion for the subject. There is a focus on technique, choreography and performance. There is no prerequisite.

Students choreograph dances using the elements of dance (BEST) and choreographic devices for a purpose. They further develop their dance skills to explore the technical aspects of different dance styles. Students are given opportunities to present dance to an audience, further developing their performance skills of retention and clarity of movement, projection, focus and expression. Students perform in the annual Prendiville Dance Showcase.

Throughout the year, students will engage in a variety of practical and written tasks, which will enhance their dance skills and choreographic skills.

Course Requirements: Students will perform in the Prendiville Dance Showcase in Term 3. Students will also require the Prendiville Dance uniform for each Dance class. This is available from the Uniform Shop;

  • Females: PCC black leotard and black leggings
  • Males: Black pants and black t-shirt

Pathway: This course leads to Year 9 Dance.
