Year 8

Students create a range of food products, developing confidence and independence in food preparation techniques whilst using a variety of kitchen equipment, tools and materials. Students advance and challenge their skills to make a variety of recipes that show increased difficulty.  Their culinary skills are a strong focus alongside time management, group work and interpersonal skills. The students will apply the concepts of healthy eating to planning and making family meals and desserts. Health tools like the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating and the Healthy Eating Pyramid will be used. Students will have the opportunity to prepare food for social occasions, such as parties whereby parents/guardians may be invited to an event.
