Year 8

Surf Coaching:  Surf skills are introduced and developed once per week before school. In addition, students are encouraged to continue their surfing through Interhouse and Interschool events. Students will also be exposed to Stand-Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) to supplement their surf skills.

Fitness Lessons:  Focus on the strength, endurance, flexibility and agility required to improve surfing performance. Cross training and video analysis, including the use of “Streetboardz”, integrating the latest coaching techniques from Surfing Australia. In addition, extension physical activities are included to develop all facets of fitness and foster enjoyment of lifelong participation in physical activity.

Theory Lessons:  Cover surf safety, weather, equipment for surfing, surf skills, rules of the surf, competition surfing and surf culture.

Additional Course Fee: This course/subject attracts an additional fee which is listed in the Schedule of Fees and Charges. The fee will be invoiced on your Family fee account.

Course Length:  One period per week plus one surf coaching session per week before school on Tuesdays starting at 6.00am at the College.

Requirements:  College Sports Uniform.  All equipment provided until students’ progress to a level where they can acquire gear specific to individual needs.

Additional Information: Students who wish to apply for the Year 8 course should complete the Surf Science New Student Form available from the Sportal on Seqta  and return this completed to the PE office.
