The Year 8 Dance General course is for those students who enjoyed Year 7 Dance and want to continue in Year 8, although are unsure if they want to continue in middle/upper school. There is a focus on collaboration and choreography. There is no prerequisite.

The course introduces students to Dance as an Art Form and establishes the Elements of Dance and basics of a Dance class. Students will learn a variety of steps and sequences within the Hip Hop and Jazz styles. They will engage in a variety of practical and theoretical tasks, which will enhance their skills repertoire and choreographic skills.

Throughout the year, students are also given several opportunities to choreograph and create their own Dance works.

Course Requirements: Students are required to have a pair of ‘theatre blacks’ for this subject (black pants/leggings and a black t-shirt).
