Humanities

Humanities is a fascinating and enjoyable subject. It helps us understand the changes in societies and countries over time, investigate the development of the world’s resources and try to predict future trends for our lifestyles and the use of our environment.

Humanities

Year 8

In Year 8 Humanities, students study Civics and Citizenship, focusing on the freedoms and responsibilities of Australian citizens, how laws are made, and the concept of national identity. In Economics and Business, they explore how markets operate, the roles of consumers and businesses, and the influence of governments.

Geography introduces students to landscapes, natural hazards, migration, and urbanisation, both locally and globally. In History, students investigate the medieval period, examining the feudal system, significant events like the Black Death, and their impacts on society.

This comprehensive program not only builds knowledge but also develops essential skills. Students enhance their research abilities by gathering and evaluating information from various sources, improve their analytical skills by interpreting evidence and drawing conclusions, and refine their communication by presenting their findings in different formats.

The course also fosters critical thinking, encouraging students to question assumptions and consider multiple perspectives. These skills equip students to thoughtfully engage with both historical and contemporary issues.
