Sport @ Prendiville

By February 23, 2022News

Welcome back to all members of the Prendiville Catholic College community for 2022. As per usual the commencement of the new school year brings a sudden start to sporting events. Although the pandemic has postponed or cancelled some of our College sporting events, there will be many opportunities for students to immerse themselves in sporting life at the College and I encourage all students to pursue these where possible.

Term 1 Coastal Associated Sport (CAS Sport)

The CAS sub-association have made the decision to postpone the Term 1 CAS sport due to implementation of the revised school COVID-19 guidelines. Thank you to all students who came to trial for our teams at Prendiville in the many different sports that were on offer. We had over 200 nominations for teams which was an outstanding turn-out. Students displayed an incredible amount of talent across all fields. Well done to all student who trialled, and we hope to see the Summer CAS Competition brought back in Term 4, 2022.

After-School Summer Social Sports Competition

Starting Week 5

After the postponement or cancellation of Term 1 Sporting events due to the pandemic, it is exciting to launch the After-school Summer Social Sports Competition for Year 7 to Year 12. The competition will begin next week – Week 5 and end in Week 8. Students of all skill-levels are invited to come down after-school to play in a Social Sports Competition at Prendiville. Students have been direct messaged with a link to sign-up to social sport.

The competition will be split in Year levels to meet the current COVID-19 restrictions. Each year level will have a teacher-in-charge of the Sport and a specific sport (see below). Students will play in 3x 15min games in a King of the Court playing-style with prizes for the top winning court/field. Sporting Excellence

Prendiville has a rich history of sporting achievement and has produced some outstanding athletes. Among our current students we have many high-level achievers at state, national and international level. Should your son/ daughter excel in their chosen sporting field please notify me so they may be recognised appropriately.

Jasmin Barnes

Congratulations to Jasmin Barnes who has been selected in the 2022 West Perth Rogers Cup Squad (15-17 years) for the upcoming WAFLW season. We look forwarding to seeing Jasmin shine in her upcoming season. Well done to Jasmin on your hard work and commitment and good luck for the season ahead.

Once again, I am looking forward to the year ahead and being able to provide the opportunity to our students to grow and develop through their sporting endeavours.
