The Year 9 Mathematics programme is based on the content in the Australian Mathematics Curriculum. Students will be assigned to one of four courses dependent upon their Year 8 result.

  • The Advanced course is intended for those students with an aptitude for mathematics
  • Intermediate A for those students of average to above average mathematical ability
  • Intermediate B is a general mathematics programme
  • The Foundation course is for those students who require the work to be at a much slower pace and who need more individual attention.

Students in the Advanced, Intermediate A and Intermediate B courses cover a selection of topics which may include Pythagoras’ Theorem, trigonometric ratios, linear and quadratic functions, index laws, surface area and volume, congruence and similarity, and probability and statistics. The Foundation students concentrate on learning and developing basic mathematical skills.
